Although Emma Barron has always been a creative writer, she took a rather circuitous path to become a published author.
As an undergraduate studying biology, Emma did a stint as a field assistant researching stream ecology in Venezuela, where she slept in a hammock in the woods, was awakened every morning by hooting howler monkeys, and was attacked by killer bees. She followed this up with another research stint in South Africa studying tuberculosis in cape buffalo, where she helped radio collar the buffalo from a helicopter, was chased by petulant teenage elephants, and was awakened by zebra “marking” her tent.
After graduation, Emma traded those adventures for a jungle of a different kind: the beast-eat-beast world of law school and DC law firms. She began writing full novels for the first time as a way to escape the stress of her legal studies, and continued to write while she worked in the legal field. She was completely hooked, but wasn’t ready to believe she could turn her passion into a career. When her husband got a job in upstate New York, Emma took time off to raise their young daughter, and realized it was the perfect time to concentrate on writing. Here’s to the start of a brand new adventure...
